Opening with the World Premiere of “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge”

The highly anticipated Tribeca Festival has unveiled its features lineup for the year 2024. The festival will kickstart with the world premiere of the Hulu documentary, “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge,” directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton. The event will showcase some of the most remarkable and thought-provoking documentaries and films.

World Premieres of Exciting and Engaging Documentaries

This year’s lineup showcases a range of captivating documentaries that explore the lives and legacies of notable figures such as Liza Minnelli, Harry Belafonte, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ani DiFranco, Linda Perry, Avicii, and the Brat Pack. Additionally, the festival will feature the New York premiere of the Luther Vandross documentary, “Never Too Much,” directed by Dawn Porter.

A Diverse and Entertaining Film Selection

Tribeca Festival attendees will get the chance to enjoy a variety of films, including “Jazzy” starring Lily Gladstone, “Daddio” featuring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn, “Firebrand” with Alicia Vikander and Jude Law, “Sacramento” by Michael Angarano, “McVeigh” based on the devastating Oklahoma City bombing, and the world premiere of “Winter Spring Summer or Fall” starring Jenna Ortega and Percy Hynes White.

Comedy and Entertainment Takes Center Stage

Tribeca Festival will also showcase two humorous and insightful documentaries: “Group Therapy” produced by Kevin Hart, featuring Neil Patrick Harris, Mike Birbiglia, and Tig Notaro, and “Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution” with Lily Tomlin, Wanda Sykes, Rosie O’Donnell, Hannah Gadsby, and Joel Kim Booster.

Expression and Hope in Challenging Times

The co-founder and CEO of Tribeca, Jane Rosenthal, expresses excitement about this year’s festival, emphasizing how storytelling bridges the gaps in our society and offers hope during difficult times. Tribeca Festival director and senior vp, programming, Cara Cusumano, highlights the exceptional quality and power of the feature films, despite the challenges faced by the industry.

Inclusive and Acclaimed Selection

The features lineup includes 103 films from 114 filmmakers across 48 countries, reflecting a diverse and inclusive range of perspectives. With 86 world premieres, two international premieres, six North American premieres, and eight New York premieres, the festival presents a wide array of cinematic experiences. Notably, 50% of the films in competition are directed by women, and 35% are directed by Black, indigenous, or filmmakers of color.
