Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The Stuttgart district court wants to announce the verdict against a suspected blackmailer of the car company Daimler on Thursday. The 31-year-old had admitted in the multi-day proceedings through his lawyer that between December 2019 and April 2020 he demanded money from Daimler under a pseudonym in emails and threatened attacks. In one case it was about 25 million euros.
In the spring, according to the indictment, the man blew up an A-class car in Berlin to support his demands for money. The public prosecutor asked for six years and nine months’ imprisonment for the man because of particularly serious attempted predatory extortion and causing an explosion. For the defense, the defendant should not be behind bars for more than six years – five years imprisonment are appropriate for act and guilt.
