An insight into the daily and everyday life of the Covid-19 three wards at the Infectious Diseases Center. Tells the patient

About a week ago, as part of the publication of Jauns.lv, a man named Kristaps was contacted by phone, who informed his followers on social networks that he had received a positive Covid-19 test result.

At that time, the man did not need to be hospitalized, and Kristaps informed both on social networks and by telephone that he did not experience any other serious symptoms without loss of smell and taste, but a few days later his health deteriorated so that he had to seek medical help.

Initially, he isolated himself and worked in a country house

“Speaking of Covid-19 – I am in the countryside myself, I will focus on sawing trees,” a week ago Jauns.lv told the man who had already received a positive answer to the Covid-19 test.

All this time, he has also shared his thoughts on the social network “Twitter”, detailing his daily life in self-isolation at home in rural areas.

Although he himself was lucky enough to avoid more serious symptoms at that time, Kristaps regularly urged social networks not to act irresponsibly and to take into account the daily recommendations of specialists to be safe in connection with the spread of the virus.

Everything changed at the end of October, when Kristaps’ situation deteriorated significantly. The man is currently in the hospital and breathing with the help of an oxygen balloon.

Suddenly he goes to the hospital

On October 26, Kristaps publicly wrote that he was already on the “eighth day of symptoms”. The temperature is 38.7 degrees and the main changes are the ability to “cough something”.

A day later, the man reported that he had contacted the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and was going to the hospital. Describing the experience, Kristaps also praised the professionalism and attitude of NMPD employees.

Kristaps has been placed in the ward with four more Covid-19 infected, but another bed is vacant.

“Visitors must not, of course, leave the ward. You can transfer your belongings, but ask to do it once a day, because the staff has a lot of work to do, ”the man writes.

Commenting on what a certain section of the public said about Covid-19 as an “artificially inflated problem”, Kristaps says: “An oxygened person has neither a temperature nor a cough. He can barely go back and forth in four steps to the toilet. I really don’t know what to say to those who talk about all these stupidities. In case, they are not just panicking, and they have such a protection mechanism? ”

The man also describes the course of another hospitalized gentleman – he was aware that he had contacted a number of people before calling the illness, called colleagues and encouraged them to “sit at home”.

Detects bilateral pneumonia

Judging by what Kristaps wrote, he is not the only one in the ward whose situation has deteriorated suddenly and very rapidly.

The man reports the infected, whose fever has risen very rapidly, and the second man, who is already connected to oxygen at the end of October 27.

Already on the morning of October 28, Kristaps told Twitter that he had been diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia. Doctors promise that after three days you should start to feel the positive effects of antibiotics on your health.

Both he and other infected people have their body temperature measured and recorded with strict regularity.

No appetite

On Tuesday, breakfast was served with tea, semolina, a slice of white bread and rye bread, as well as a buttercup and cottage cheese, but the appetite was not so good and the patient could only eat porridge. “The doctor says you have to eat,” he mentions, revealing that the members of the ward do not have the appetite either. One of the neighbors brought a “pile of food”, but nothing should be taken out of the ward, only thrown away. “He is now calling and cursing what he has brought so much. And he is right,” says Kristaps.

On Wednesday, lunch was one of his favorite dishes – beets, but the appetite is still not, so the Covid-19-infected man predicts that the rest – soup, rice, meat – will remain uneaten.
