BRADENTON, Florida – Right-handed pitcher Trevor Cahill and the Pittsburgh Pirates signed a one-year, $ 1.5 million deal on Friday. The deal allows Cahill to earn an additional $ 1 million in performance bonuses for tickets.
Cahill could win $ 100,000 for 75 innings; $ 150,000 per 100; $ 200,000 for 125; $ 250,000 for 150, and $ 300,000 for 175 episodes released.
The 33-year-old went 1-2 with a 3.24 ERA in six starts and five relief appearances for the San Francisco Giants last season.
Cahill struck out 31 enemies and walked 14 in 24 innings, holding opponents to a career low of .184. After moving to the bullpen, he pitched five scoreless innings in five games.
The pitcher earned $ 519,624 in prorated pay from a $ 2 million salary.
Cahill is 85-94 with a 4.20 ERA and a save with the Oakland Athletics (2009-11, and 2018), the Arizona Diamondbacks (2012, and 2014), the Atlanta Braves (2015), the Chicago Cubs (2015- 16), the San Diego Padres (2017), the Kansas City Royals (2017), the Los Angeles Angels (2019) and the Giants (2020).
