Treasure-Seeking Family Finds Two “Never Seen” Size Gold Nuggets | THE IMPARTIAL

On the outskirts of the Australian city of Bendigo, in the state of Victoria, three members of a family have found two giant gold nuggets, with a total value of 350,000 Australian dollars (about 250,000 US dollars), local press reports.

Ethan West, his father Paul and his brother-in-law Brent Shannon have been searching for gold for years, but this is the first time they have unearthed two nuggets of 78 and 45 ounces, respectively. Those two pieces, with a total weight of 3.5 kilos, could be worth up to 30% more if sold to a collector.

The treasure hunters indicated that the discovery occurred in virgin terrain, and that they used a digging shovel to extract the soil, which was then spread evenly on the ground. Finally, they combed through the extracted soil with metal detectors and found the precious loot, indicates RT.

Ethan revealed that they have found “thousands” of gold nuggets in recent years using this method, but that none were like these. “No one has seen these types of gold pieces for millions of years and we are the first people to see them,” said Brent.
