Traveler can now also travel to Zurich in Switzerland by night train | Inland

On 25 May this year, the Netherlands was officially connected to the European network of night trains again, after a period of more than four years without regular international sleep connections by rail. From that date there will be a daily night train to Austria. The Nightjet runs from Amsterdam, via Utrecht and Arnhem to Munich (Germany) and the Austrian cities of Innsbruck and Vienna.

The fact that the railways are running night trains again has to do with the pursuit of greening. According to Heike Luiten, director of NS International, a night train to Zurich is equivalent to four planes. “The night train is the way of climate-friendly international train travel,” she states on the NS website.

Initially, the first Nightjet was supposed to drive to Austria at the end of last year, but that was postponed due to the corona pandemic. For traveling to and from Switzerland and via Germany, the government sets different conditions in connection with the corona pandemic. If you want to take the night train, it is wise to check the government website.
