Author of beatings on two educators from Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), where he is placed, the 16-year-old teenager was transferred to Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes) to be tried there for a previous case of willful violence .

The device is impressive. It partly illustrates the rigidity and complexity of the French administrative system. No less than four vehicles and twelve national police officers, from four different departments (Saint-Nazaire, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Nîmes), were mobilized to escort, over a distance of 1,200 km, a minor offender aged 16 years old.
To better understand, we must go back to the recent journey of this young man. On Wednesday, he was arrested in the closed educational center (CEF) of Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique) where he had been placed about two months earlier by the judicial court of Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes). He allegedly hit two educators. The latter, who were given a medical certificate stating five days of total incapacity for work (ITT), decided to file a complaint.

“In addition, it turned out that the suspect would also have committed damage to the furniture of the CEF”, says a police source. During his police custody – which was extended – the minor was also heard in a file “willful violence in meetings” which occurred on June 4 at the detention center in Grasse. Facts which had precisely led to his placement by the court of this same city in the CEF of Saint-Nazaire.
Wishing to hear him on this case, the Grasse prosecutor’s office asked that the minor be brought before a juvenile judge of this same court, the only one authorized to judge him since the young man is domiciled in the sector of this jurisdiction. The appointment was fixed for this Friday morning, nine o’clock. The police therefore had to organize the transport and escort of the defendant.
“For obvious safety reasons (fatigue at the wheel, duration of the vacation…), the load of this course was distributed at the national level between four different police services”, reports the same source. The three police officers composing the escort from Saint-Nazaire therefore passed the baton to another trio in Bordeaux, who handed the minor over to three police officers in Toulouse. The latter passed the baton to three colleagues from Nîmes who ensured the final part of the trip. What about the return trip…
