Transition: Chad reaffirms its support and support for Gabon – AGP

Libreville, October 9, 2023 (AGP) – The President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, paid, this Monday, an official visit to N’Djamena in Chad, where he was received at the Palais Toumaï by his Chadian counterpart General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, who reassured his host of his country’s support and support for the Gabonese transition, reports a press release from the presidency received by the AGP.

“The President of the Transition of Chad wanted, at the end of these exchanges, to reassure his host as to the readiness of the authorities and the Chadian people to accompany and support Gabon in the transition process,” indicates the press release.

But first, the President of the Gabonese Transition took the opportunity of the interview to “seek the goodwill of the African fathers of ECCAS, in order to support our country in the transition process by finding African and lasting solutions in the case of Gabon. Not without “reiterating its tributes to the Chadian people for the loss of the late Marshal Idriss Deby Itno, who died in 2021, and patriarch who worked for a long time alongside the late Omar Bongo Ondimba in peace issues in the sub-region”.

Beyond this support for the Gabonese transition, the strengthening of bilateral relations also occupied a special place in the exchanges between the two heads of state.

“During the meeting, the two counterparts also discussed subjects of common interest as well as points of bilateral cooperation which link Libreville and N’Djamena. The two heads of state expressed their common desire to densify and solidify this cooperation which stimulates the development and growth of the Central African sub-region,” indicates the same source. Knowing that the two countries are members of CEMAC and have historic agreements in the fields of diplomacy, economics, investment, defense industry, health, trade and education.

On the sidelines of the interview with the President of Chad, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma spoke with the Gabonese diaspora. The latter, said the press release, sent him its congratulations for the transition process underway in Gabon which has, among other objectives, the restoration of institutions, the revitalization of public administration and the consolidation of public finances, in with a view to accelerating the economic development of Gabon.

The Head of State, who took note of the grievances expressed against him, invited the Gabonese community of Ndjamena to participate in the building of the new Gabon, in a patriotic spirit.

The tête-à-tête between General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema and General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno comes after the visit to Gabonese soil, on September 21, of a Chadian envoy carrying a message of support expressed by Chad to Transition Committee for the Restoration of Institutions (CTRI).

The official visit of the President of the Gabonese Transition to Chad is part of the continuation of his explanatory tour carried out in the Central African sub-region on the establishment of the transition which began on August 30. Before Chad, he had already been to Equatorial Guinea, Congo and the Central African Republic.
