Transfer hammer? RB Leipzig denies transfer from Milot Rashica

RB Leipzig is said to be shortly before signing Bremen star Milot Rashica – and BVB was talking about it for a long time. Now, however, the Saxons denied alleged talks with the Kosovar.

Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has not confirmed media reports of an upcoming commitment by Milot Rashica from Werder Bremen in a first reaction. Above all, the start-up transfer fee of 38 million euros, which should apply to a change abroad, frightened RB.

“A journalist must have mistaken us for other clubs,” said sports director Markus Krösche on Saturday: “We were never connected to such numbers and transfers, especially not at the present time.”

The Weser courier had previously reported that the talks between RB and the management of 23-year-old Rashica were already “well advanced”. An announcement of the transfer is expected later this month.

Rashica’s adviser Altin Lala had already indicated a farewell. “It is time for Milot to take the next step in his career. Among the interested clubs are clubs that are constantly playing in the Champions League,” said Lala on Albanian television.

Spicy: Actually, Rashica had been talking to Leipzig’s league rival Borussia Dortmund for quite some time, reports say that there have also been contacts. Rashica is said to be able to inherit the English in the event of Jadon Sancho’s departure.

Rashica is not cheap

The Kosovar’s contract runs until 2022, if the transfer abroad is premature, the transfer fee is set at 38 million euros. In view of the financial difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic for the relegation-threatened Hanseatic League, a transfer seems inevitable in the near future.

“We are not dreamers. It may well happen that Milot leaves us in summer,” said Werder sports director Frank Baumann of the DeichStube. Rashica moved to Bremen from Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands in January 2018.
