“Train Services Disrupted Between Eindhoven Central and Venlo Due to Object in Overhead Line”

There will be no trains between Eindhoven Central and Venlo until six o’clock tonight, the Dutch Railways report this. The cause is an ‘object in the overhead line’. A spokesman for rail manager ProRail says that construction plastic has ended up in the overhead lines at the North Limburg company America on both sides of the track. A driver of a passing train had noticed this.

Engineers started work around 5:30 p.m. 1Limburg reports that the plastic with a special insulated stick must be removed. According to the ProRail spokesperson, it does not appear that the overhead lines are damaged. As far as is known, no trains have been stranded en route. Initially, the NS thought so the disturbance would last until half past nine.

Earlier today, no trains ran between Eindhoven Central and Weert. This was the result of a collision near Geldrop. The disruption lasted from a quarter past eleven this morning until about three o’clock this afternoon.
