Tragic Incident: Man in His 60s Dies After Falling into Nessefossen Waterfall

A man in his 60s has died after he fell into a Nessefossen in Sirdal in Agder.

Just before 4pm on Saturday, the police reported that one person had fallen down the waterfall.

All emergency services, rescue helicopter, air ambulance and divers participated in the search for the man.

The man received life-saving first aid and was transported to Haukeland Hospital after he was found at 5 p.m.

On Saturday evening, the police reported that the man had been confirmed dead. The next of kin have been notified.

– It is currently too early to say anything about the cause of death, but it indicates drowning, says operations manager Roger Litlatun in the Sør-West police district.

He was found in the water near the place where he fell, operations manager Roger Litlatun in the Sør-West police district told VG.

The man was with his family when the accident happened.

Nessefossen is a popular bathing spot in the north of Sirdal municipality.
