Tragic Death of Nonverbal Autistic Boy Found in Brooklyn Water

A 9-year-old nonverbal autistic boy was found dead by New York police divers hours after he went missing from the Ikea store in Brooklyn yesterday.

Divers and a host of other rescuers frantically searched for the younger Hasbul Hehan after he walked away while her parents were shopping at Red Hook Ikeathe sources told Daily News.

The boy had last been seen just before 10 p.m. Wednesday at the store on Beard St. wearing a black shirt, blue shorts and orange sandals, police said.

Surveillance footage from the store showed the boy going out into the water in the erie basinaccording to the police. Canine, port and aviation units with drones were deployed for the search.

The team found the victim’s shoes in the water before he did. Divers entered the water at 10:13 pm Rescuers took the young victim to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The summer has been plagued with tragedies in New York, with several fatalities and accidents in leisure activities. Last week a teenager drowned when he plunged from the popular Fawn’s Leap waterfall in the Catskill Mountains.

Previously, two teenagers drowned on NYC beaches during the heat wave that hit the city. At the beginning of July, a 13-year-old boy who was miraculously rescued alive from the Prospect Park lake in Brooklyn (NYC) died after spending three weeks seriously hospitalized.

In June an FDNY firefighter died while trying to save his daughter caught in a rip current off the Jersey shore.
