On the afternoon of Saturday, October 28, the death of actor Matthew Perry, best known for giving life to the charismatic Chandler Bing in the acclaimed 90s sitcom, ‘Friends’, was reported. Perry lost his life at age 54 after drowning in his jacuzzi.
A few hours after his death, the actor’s family issued a statement exclusively for the magazine PEOPLE in which they appreciate the expressions of love, but not before being “heartbroken” over the actor’s premature death.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, as an actor and as a friend. “You all meant a lot to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love,” the letter reads.
Once the actor’s death was confirmed, his parents, Suzanne Morrison and John Bennet Perry, as well as his stepfather, Keith Morrison, were present at the scene.
Suzanne and John divorced when Matthew was a young man. Later, her mother married Keith, with whom she had 4 children, all half-brothers of Matthew. The actor never married or had children.

According to the first reports, Perry was found dead in the jacuzzi of his home in Los Angeles, California, around 4:10 pm. Sources with knowledge of the matter revealed to TMZ that the actor had returned from playing pickleball in the morning. Later, he sent his assistant to run some errands.
Perry’s assistant returned to the actor’s residence about two hours later, when he found the actor unconscious in his jacuzzi, with signs of drowning. Emergency crews responded to a call at 4:10 pm in the actor’s direction, but efforts were unsuccessful and Perry did not survive. At this time, there are no suspicions of foul play and no illicit drugs were found at the scene.
