Honors:

The meeting made Clemens Laule an honorary member. He was surprised and said: “It is important that the traffic patrol continues, the club does not merge with another.” In 1998 Laule was elected as an assessor, was treasurer from 2002 to 2010 and chairman from 2010 to 2022. His successor Renz emphasized that Laule was handing over a well-ordered and functioning club. Laule did a lot: promoted digitization, created the homepage, took part in biker, blue light, prevention days, school festivals, informed about road safety, correct behavior in traffic as pedestrians, seniors, motorcyclists, cyclists, about alcohol and medication in road traffic or led the blind spot campaign, the holiday program with a bike tour and early bike course, and the acquisition and provision of speed measuring systems for communities. Laule’s hobbies were the children, the youth and the traffic school with bicycle training for the fourth graders on the club’s own traffic training area, the training of school pilots and a safe way to school for school beginners. In 2011, one year after assuming the presidency, he pushed ahead with the expansion of the traffic training area to include the western loops. In 2014, Laule modernized the fleet with 35 new bicycles. In 2016, Laule received the Golden Badge of Honor from the National Association of Traffic Guards.

Thomas Koch from the Police Headquarters Prevention Department thanked Laule for his great support for cycling training and school route safety. In Titisee-Neustadt, 300 to 360 children, a fifth of all children in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district, are trained every year. Frank Stratz from the Freiburg-Müllheim Traffic Watch found Laule to be a critical thinker who questions many things and dedicates himself wholeheartedly to the cause. Another companion of Laule, Jerry Clark from the Emmendingen traffic patrol and deputy district traffic patrol chairman, showed that Laule’s support had made it possible to modernize the state traffic patrol. “You deserve credit for that,” Clark said to Laule.

» review: In 2019, safety vests were purchased for student pilots, biker day, blue light day and a children’s holiday program took place. In 2020 there were safety vests for the Schluchsee kindergarten. The children’s holiday program could take place, as well as in 2021. Only 80 students were trained at the traffic training area in 2020 due to the corona.

Box: A significant contribution was made by the conditions that the public prosecutor’s office in Freiburg passed on to the traffic police. From this, material for traffic safety could be purchased and the groundskeeper could be paid.
