Traffic officers gave offenders food instead of fines | World

On USA Thanksgiving is celebrated on the last Thursday in November, the day that many people take advantage of to help those most in need. This is the case of the Arizona Police Department, who decided to stop drivers who committed traffic violations during the day and, instead of fines, gave them food.

One of the beneficiaries was arrested for making a very wide turn. “You’re supposed to stay in your lane,” explained Officer Jason Flam.

By stopping said driver and surprising him with a turkey for his dinner, the man began to cry and thanked the police force, as he assured them that “I had no food to eat” .

Some of the offenders arrested during the celebration thanked the authorities for the gesture, but asked them to deliver the food to people who needed it more than they did.

The measure called “turkeys, no fines” began in 2016 in order to connect and have a rapprochement between the Police and the community.
