Traders’ Association: Trader has no legal control over the use of masks – Society and politics – News

He noted that it is physically impossible to hire guards standing at the entrance to 40,000 outlets in the country, to facilities to control both the two-meter distance and the wearing of face fees. It is also not clear to traders on the basis of which document the guards must determine the age of the visitors or the diagnosis of the disease, which exempts them from the obligation to wear masks.

Danusevics pointed out that on behalf of the association, buyers are invited to use face masks in stores. “At the same time, we understand the part of the society that for some good reason chooses not to use face masks, but strictly observes a distance of two meters,” Danusevics emphasized.

It has already been reported that the Saeima’s Defense, Interior and Corruption Prevention Commission on Friday supported the amendments to the Covid-19 Infection Management Law, which envisage the introduction of a fine for not using mouth and nose shields in public places where their use is required by law, to be submitted for first reading.

Danusevics informed the commission that all responsible traders had posted warnings about the use of masks, including audio warnings. “Admittedly, in small shops, a warning to people without a mask – especially the elderly – often triggers an emotional explosion when anger over a government decision is poured out on store employees. We are grateful that the police will start addressing these issues by removing tension from the dealer,” Danusevics

The President of LTA also emphasized that he did not agree with the opinion expressed by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) at the commission meeting that people without face masks and without the Covid-19 application should not be placed in shops by a trader. “The control of regulations is within the competence of the police, while the restriction of fundamental human freedoms – control of movement – does not, in my opinion, comply with either the Satversme or the Charter of Human Rights,” said Danusevics.

LTA has united more than 600 entrepreneurs engaged in trade, catering and service provision.
