Trade Up Program: Sonos retreats and joins ecological arguments

Sonos understood that the operation of its Trade Up program was not compatible with the ecological emergency. Good news, Recycle Mode is disappearing and end-of-life equipment will no longer be artificially retired.

In recent months, the US multiroom specialist Sonos has weathered several storms. Besides the announcement of the end of Legacy product updates and a big blunder having exposed the email addresses of hundreds of customers, it is above all the operation, which escapes all ecological sense, of its promotional program for upgrading equipment which has won it a strong controversy. After doing the ostrich for several weeks, Sonos finally decided to review the operation of this program.

From now on, it will be possible to benefit from a 30% reduction to acquire a new speaker if you have an old eligible product, and this without having to “brick” it logically via Recycle Mode while it is still functional. .

Customers activating their reduction on the purchase of new equipment can therefore do what they want with the old one: bring it to a recycling specialist, give it to a loved one, sell it on a second-hand platform or keep it while continuing to use it. It is also possible to send it to Sonos, who will ensure that the recycling of the material will be done in the rules of the art.

As a reminder, the products eligible for the upgrade program and entering the Legacy category at Sonos are the following: Play: 5 Gen 1, Connect, Connect: Amp and ZonePlayer 80, 90, 100 and 120. All of them have been marketed more than 10 years ago.
