The intention of the Flemish government’s decree is in line with the minimum service provided by the railway company NMBS. The question is what that will mean for the traveler.
“It is not as simple as with the railway,” says a spokeswoman for De Lijn. “We cannot just suddenly deploy drivers who are used to driving in East Flanders in Limburg. But the big advantage will be that travelers will know 24 hours in advance whether a certain bus or tram is running or not.”
“And we also notice that the drivers who have indicated that they will drive, that they adhere to those agreements and are present.”
