Toyota’s Controversial SUV: Land Hopper Unveiled at Japan Mobility Show 2023

To share

Toyota will present a very controversial SUV at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, which will take place in Tokyo between October 26th and November 5th. While Lexus should focus on its new line of electric vehicles, Toyota will cater to all consumers’ tastes and needs, presenting prototypes such as the IMV 0 pickup truck concept, the Kayoibako boxy and modular electric van, as well as crossover sports utility vehicles. FT-3e and FT-Se.

In addition to these prototypes, the company’s portal dedicated to the event is still mysterious about other models, describing how more information will be revealed soon. In other words, there will be more models that will be shown during the Japanese show.

One of the most anticipated surprises is the SUV called Land Hopper. Rumors claim that this model will be a smaller version of the recently launched J250 Land Cruiser (Prado) and the J300 Land Cruiser. Both are built on the same TNGA-F platform as their bigger brothers.

The Land Hopper has been the subject of speculation since the official unveiling of the 2024 Land Cruiser, which included a mysterious silhouette of a seven-seat electric crossover SUV alongside a more rugged, compact-sized SUV.

Renegade da Toyota

As the creativity of the automotive internet is endless, some YouTubers started making projections of what this new SUV could be like. And the projection that draws the most attention is the one that transforms the model into a kind of Jeep Renegade made in Japan.

Made using artificial intelligence, the projection ended up uniting Toyota’s current design philosophy with lines that resemble those of Jeep. The result was a modified Renegade with the Japanese brand’s symbol. Furthermore, the rectilinear body style is reminiscent of Hummer cars, but in a smaller size.

At least there is a projection with a front more similar to Toyota lines, although it looks like a combination of the front of the Hilux and that of the new Amarok. In any case, it is unlikely that the Japanese brand’s model will follow any of these designs. In any case, we are curious to see what a Renegade made by Toyota could look like.
