The Japanese carmaker is cooperating on the project with the domestic space agency JAXA. The agreement on the joint development of the reconnaissance vehicle was signed by JAXA and Toyota last June, the finished product should be introduced after 2025.

It is a reconnaissance vehicle powered by fuel cells. Thanks to the pressurized cabin, it is used for the human crew. The exterior design is worth noting the round headlights and imitation mask, which is strikingly reminiscent of the original Land Cruiser.

The vehicle should be 6 meters long, 5.2 meters wide and 3.8 meters high. It will provide a total living space of 13 cubic meters, which will accommodate two people, in emergencies it will provide facilities for up to four passengers. Its range is up to 10,000 km thanks to hydrogen fuel cells.

Currently, according to Toyota, the work focuses on simulations of performance and heat dissipation properties during driving, production and evaluation of tire prototypes. For the appropriate arrangement of the cruiser cabin and its equipment, the carmaker also works with space experts with augmented reality and miniatures.
