Toyota has introduced the GR GT3 concept, and wants to sell it to private racing teams

One would expect that if Toyota competes in touring cars in the GT3 class, it will use the Supra as the basis for a race car, just as it does in the GT4 class. However, the Tokyo Motor Show speaks differently – the carmaker revealed the GR GT3 concept, which does not share great technology. And according to the proportions and especially the exhaust behind the left front wheel, we can judge that it is not even a sibling of the electric concept STI E-RA from Subaru.

However, Toyota does not want to enter the GT3 circuit races alone. The concept offers customers to private racing teams. It is part of a strategy in which the carmaker does not want to “just” modify road cars for racing use, but wants to sell real racing cars.

According to the British Autocar, however, the carmaker’s efforts in the field of motorsport should also result in road cars – road versions of GT3 class riders. However, the carmaker did not disclose when the racing or road GR GT3 is to appear on the market.

In the same way, he keeps all the technical details about the car for himself. So we don’t know if the car is pure combustion or hybrid, exactly how many horses or kilograms it has. We can only start from the rules of the GT3 class, which talks about the performance of cars between 500 and 600 horses and the weight between 1200 and 1300 kilograms.
