The swelling in her neck remained, however, and somewhere she felt that something was wrong. Her symptoms did not lessen and at one point Touriya weighed only 45 kilos. Walking alone was quite a challenge. “On the way back to LA I had to be taken on the plane in a wheelchair because I couldn’t even walk myself,” Touriya said openly during the interview.
The next day, she finally decided to listen to her body and go to the emergency room, where she was immediately admitted. “The doctors told me I would probably have died of organ failure if I hadn’t gone to the emergency room that day, really, really bad.”

She has now completed chemotherapy and is feeling a little better every day. About this she says: “Officially you are in remission after five years, and I still have to go for a check-up every few months.
