Tourists flock to several cities in Romania. 45% of autumn bookings are made in a large city in the country. The average price for a double room per night, between September and November 2023, is 270 lei.

Staying warm weather and lower prices are the best incentive for tourists this fall. 45% of the bookings made for this season were made in a large city in Romania. The advantages of these short stays are significant. They are a very good way to explore cities with tourist potential.

Tourists prefer Romania this autumn

Compared to the same period last year, 2023 brought tariff increases in the tourism industry. But this did not diminish the appetite of Romanians to travel. It is in the top of the most booked cities for city-breaks

Brașov (15.37% of bookings), Bucharest (12.83%), Sibiu (8.99%) Cluj-Napoca (8.72%), Oradea city, Timisoara, Iasi, Sighisoara, Targu Mures.

The booking trend was decreasing after August 15. But, thanks to favorable weather conditions, tourists chose to travel. On average, the duration for an autumn city-break in Romania is two nights.

“We are enjoying a warm autumn, the temperatures are similar to those at the beginning of summer, so tourists still have the availability to travel and explore Romania in short stays. We are glad that the city-break trend is on the rise and that our country is becoming a city-break destination, because we have so many beautiful places that are worth discovering. We expect a new peak in autumn bookings at the end of October when the children’s holiday starts. On this occasion, we recommend tourists who want to travel during that period to make reservations in time, in order to catch free places at the desired accommodation units”, says Rita Szilveszter, Travelminit.ro Marketing Manager.

Regarding the chosen accommodation, tourists’ options differ depending on the destination. For example, in Sibiu and Brașov, cities often chosen for a relaxing stay, apartments and guesthouses are in great demand.

On the other hand, in Bucharest, Timișoara, Iași, Cluj-Napoca, cities where tourists also travel for business purposes, hotels remain in the top preferences.
