From the beginning of July, 65,000 Corona tests per week are to be carried out among tourism employees across Austria. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz presented this concept yesterday, Thursday, with Minister of Tourism Elisabeth Köstinger and President of the Chamber of Commerce Harald Mahrer.
First, employees are tested who deal directly with the guest, e.g. waiters. If the capacities are increased, cooks & Co. also come to the test. The public sector bears the costs. They are being carried out by a private consortium that, according to Mahrer, is currently being formed. The tests are offered via the tourism regions. “This is certainly one of the best investments for site security,” said Mahrer.

40 million euros for advertising
Österreich-Werbung receives a special budget of 40 million euros. Under the title “A good summer is waiting for you”, a campaign starts in June, which mainly targets Germany. The borders with Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein will open on June 15th. An agreement on how to proceed next week will be found with neighboring countries in the east, Kurz said. Italy and Slovenia, on the other hand, look more difficult. “In good talks” are with all neighboring countries.
