Tour operators described the “Zanzibar order” of the Minister of Health as a guillotine

The order of the Minister of Health, which introduces a mandatory 10-day quarantine, followed by a PCR test for passengers entering from Africa, again creates distrust and fear among consumers of tourist services. This was written by the Association “Future for Tourism”, expressing bewilderment and protest against the cited order.

The statement sent to the media notes that the order, issued on Friday night, boils them unprepared and puts stress on all tour operators who make outbound tourism.

The order enters “12 without 5”, despite the numerous letters sent by the association to the Minister of Health and the Chief State Health Inspector. In them we explained why such decisions, imposed unexpectedly, without a grace period, lead to huge losses for economic entities in the industry. All this was explained at a meeting with Prof. Angelov with Pavlina Ilieva, chairman of the Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents “Union” Future for Tourism “, ten days ago,” the organization said.

The order for obligatory quarantine practically guillotines the timid attempts to restore the activity of the tour operators, again creates distrust and fear among the users of tourist services, the announcement also notes.

The organization notes that for the three months in which charters to Zanzibar are organized, there is only one client who has been invited for a re-test and its results are not yet known to us. All other tests are negative.

According to tour operators, quarantine dooms planned and prepaid trips not only to Zanzibar, but also to other destinations – Kenya, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.

We strongly protest against the imposition of such bans, which come into force without the necessary grace period in which to restructure and at least slightly reduce our losses, said the organization and demanded the abolition of quarantine for people with a negative PCR test.
