Coronavirus: results of 22,000 tests already fully analyzed have been released

Over 46,000 tests have so far been distributed in Belgian nursing homes. This weekend, 41,000 of them are expected to arrive in laboratories for analysis.

Next week, the tests delivered to establishments should also be 20% higher than what was initially planned, according to figures released on Saturday evening by the coronavirus testing task force led by Minister Philippe De Backer.

“Last week, an agreement was reached to use a large part of the testing capacity for nursing homes and other communities. The target group for these tests is the same for all regions: all the nursing staff and all the residents who have not yet been tested on the COVID-19 “, specifies the task force.

85% of tests were negative

In the meantime, no less than 30,000 tests have been recorded, of which around 22,000 have been fully analyzed. Only 74 samples were unusable.

Their analysis shows that 85% of the tests were negative for covid-19 and 15% positive.

“The testing process, which is currently running at 100%, is a huge logistical challenge. But thanks to it, we have a good overview of the situation in nursing homes and other communities, which will allow us to take the necessary steps. adequate measures, “said Minister De Backer (Open Vld).
