The first mountainous event of the Tour de France will be in the fourth stage on September 1, which will start at Sisteron and finish at Orcières-Merlette.

This day will have a total route of 160.5 kilometers with five mountain passes distributed as follows: three of the third category, one of the fourth category and the final first category pass at the finish line.

Precisely this ascent of the Orcierés-Merlette has a distance of 7.1 kilometers with an average difference of 6.7% and with a maximum height of 1825 meters.
