The official opening of Olympic and Paralympic Week will take place on Monday January 24 at 1 p.m. at the Peiresc college in Toulon, in the presence of officials from National Education, the CDOS and the municipality of Toulon.
While the Beijing Winter Olympics will officially start on February 4, France is preparing to celebrate the 6th edition of Olympic and Paralympic Week from January 24 to 29, with the theme of sport for the environment and the climate. .
In the Var, many schools, medico-educational institutes and local authorities, most of which have the ”Terre de Jeux 2024” label, have joined forces to offer various discovery and sports workshops.
« The interest of Olympic and Paralympic Week is, on the one hand, to help children and young people discover the pleasure, through experience, of practicing physical and sporting activities; and on the other hand, to promote communications and coordination, in complementarity between the school environment, the sports world and local authorities. We can therefore rejoice that this operation is part of a strategy intended to “put more sport in the life” of the population in general, and young people in particular, to use the slogan of this SOP 2022” welcomes Lucienne Roques, the president of the Var Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee.
During this week, the CDOS 83 will be present at certain events to offer numerous animation and awareness workshops: exhibitions on the Olympic and Paralympic Games, disabled sports, stands on sportsmanship and fair play, sports nature and respect for the environment… You will find in the appendix the list of projects referenced on the Génération 2024 platform (note that it is always possible for establishments and communities in the Var that have developed projects to register on this platform, in the Olympic and Paralympic Week tab).

SOP organized by the Town Hall in several elementary schools in the town
Throughout the week, the elementary schools of the commune from CE2 to CM2 meet and participate in sports workshops related to the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines. Sports clubs organize their own sports workshops. The students take part in a winter sports course on extracurricular time. Workshops on the JOP 2024, Women and Sport and Sport and Handicap will be offered.

Throughout the week – Highlight: Wednesday 27 at 9:30 a.m. (presence of a high-level para-athlete)
Within the IME on adapted physical activity sessions, several hiking trails will be offered to young people. They will take the opportunity to pick up litter present on the trails and beaches practiced. Pedagogical and educational work around this waste will also be carried out with these young people (awareness of sorting, eco-responsible actions, recycling, compost, renewable energies). Presence of Florent DANAYS, multi-medal athlete in para-swimming.
