The funeral of Prince Philip united the royal family around Elizabeth II. The queen showed her distinctive strength and stoicism at her husband’s funeral, writes SkyNews correspondent Ryanon Miles.

Emotionally, touchingly and at times excitingly, thanks to the music he chose, the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral was a true reflection of a dignified life and an appropriate farewell to an unforgettable, much-loved character.

As “I Vow To Thee, My Country” was performed by military musicians, marking the arrival of the hearse that Prince Philip helped design, soldiers, sailors and airmen bowed their heads.

It was a touching beginning to the procession that the prince had done so much to shape. Along with the protocol on military uniforms, another event touched the audience. The prince’s blanket and gloves on his carriage seat moved millions of hearts.

The Prince of Wales was visibly emotional as he led the family behind his father. Then the queen appeared to join the procession.
