During the Corona COVID-19 virus pandemic, exercise became one of the ways for residents to maintain physical fitness in order to stay healthy. Related to this, there is a question swimming pool safe to use?
Communication team member of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, Dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro answered that at this time it was okay to swim in a swimming pool. It’s just that once again there are health protocols that need to be followed to minimize the risk of exposure to viruses.
Here are 5 health protocols in a swimming pool:
1. Pool water uses disinfectant
Dr. Reisa said the pool manager must be able to ensure that pool water is cleaned regularly and uses disinfectants. Information regarding this water condition must be available on the bulletin board so that all visitors can find out.
“Is that okay? swimming pool? Yes, if you can be sure swimming pool water uses a disinfectant with 1-10 ppm chlorine or 3-8 ppm bromine, so that the water pH reaches 7.2 to eight. Every day the results are informed on the information board so that all users know, “said Dr. Reisa in a press conference broadcast by BNPB on Sunday (6/28/2020).
2. The area around the pool is regularly disinfected
Areas around the pool such as tables and changing rooms must be regularly cleaned with disinfectants. The aim is to avoid the risk of visitors getting infected because of the surface that is often touched.
3. Visitors fill out forms and are restricted
Dr. Reisa said swimming pool visitors must fill out a form related to a risk self-assessment of COVID-19 exposure. Those who are in the risk group do not use the swimming pool.
Managers must also be able to limit the number of visitors who enter within a period of time. The goal is to keep the distance can be applied and the crowd does not occur.
4. Bring your own swimming equipment
Visitors must bring their own equipment used for swimming, such as towels and other rinse tools.
5. Wear a mask
Currently visiting swimming pool do not forget to keep wearing a mask. This personal protective equipment is only removed when swimming and re-used afterwards.
“Use a mask, before and after swimming,” concluded Dr. Reisa.
