The president distanced herself – through written statements on her Twitter account – from any mishandling of the transaction.
“What is exposed in that chat that the media discloses, causes outrage and deserves our strongest rejection. That in the midst of a public health emergency, and given the urgency of acquiring evidence to protect our people, as it appears from the same, these individuals intended to take advantage, guided by an excessive desire for profit, is totally condemnable“said Vázquez Garced.
“In a people of law and order, the interest of taking advantage in the midst of the emergency does not and will not have a place in our government, ever,” added the president.
The governor also commented that they will have to respond to the “last consequences” if they acted against the welfare of the citizens.
The new day yesterday announced the conversations between Maldonado and Rodríguez López in which they celebrated having achieved the sale for $ 38 million of the million rapid tests that never reached the island and whose transaction was canceled.
