Torch relay of 11 days and 5,202 km across Greece – 2024-04-13 03:34:49

Most of Greece will be covered by the Olympic Torch Relay immediately after the Touchdown Ceremony in Ancient Olympia, on April 16, for the “Paris 2024” Olympic Games. The Torch Relay on Greek soil, organized by the Hellenic Olympic Committee, will last 11 days and the Olympic Flame will travel 5,202 kilometers and 563 nautical miles, in the hands of 600 Torchbearers.

It will travel from Crete to Alexandroupolis and from Corfu to Kastelorizo ​​and will pass through 13 Regions, seven Islands, 43 Cities, 41 Municipalities, five Communities, 10 Archaeological Sites and two Olympic Museums (Athens and Thessaloniki).

In order to carry out this particularly large project, at least 50 agencies cooperate (Greek Police, Fire Service, KEPY, EKAB, Ministry of Protection, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Tourism, Regions, Municipalities, Toll Companies, Ferries, Heraklion Airport, Samaritans, Philharmonics of Municipalities, Cultural Associations, etc.) whom EOE would like to thank for their excellent cooperation.

The Olympic Light will be handed over to the Organizing Committee of the Paris Olympic Games on April 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Panathenaic Stadium, in a Ceremony open to the public with special artistic events.
