Italy’s top singer dies

At the age of 81, the legend of Italian music Milva died at her home in Milan – the singer with one of the most beautiful voices of Botusha and a theatrical actress with an impressive career, adored by great directors such as the innovator Giorgio Streller.

She was born in the town of Goro in the Po River Valley in northern Italy under the real name Maria Ilva Biolcati, but the whole world knows her by the pseudonym Milva. In her more than half-century career, she has released more than 170 albums in nearly 10 languages, including Korean and Greek. She has participated in the San Remo Festival 15 times without ever winning, but her songs have become classics: Milva is a favorite of composers Ennio Morricone and Astor Piazzolla. Adoration of Milva will take place on Tuesday at the iconic Piccolo Theater in Milan, where she has created a gallery of impressive female characters. Italian Culture Minister Dario Franceschini expressed his condolences over her death and described her as “a great Italian woman who proudly bore the name of her country around the world”. Because of her frantic temperament and expressiveness, she was called the Goro Panther, or simply Milwa the Redhead. She will also be remembered for her interpretations of Brecht, as well as resistance songs such as Bella Ciao… Milva has reportedly suffered from Alzheimer’s disease in recent years.
