“If I step down, Portugal will be in good hands”, prophesied Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2017 about his national team colleague André Silva. Today, almost four years later, he is in the service of Eintracht Frankfurt – and how. He scored 33 times in 57 competitive games. For no other club has he been more successful in hunting for goals. In the current season he has 16 league goals in 19 games. And quite a few believe that he will crack Bernd Hölzenbein’s goal record. That record goal scorer of the Hessen (a total of 201 hits) holds in the season 1976/77 with 26 goals scored the previous record. If he continues to score, then Silva should have caught up with the Eintracht legend at the end of the season.
Silva ahead of Yeboah and Gekas – Jovic in top 5
In another statistic, the 25-year-old is already in first place – ahead of many other Eintracht legends such as Anthony Yeboah or Hölzenbein. So it’s no wonder that Silva creates desires in the environment in the success of the team.
Golden shoe – Silva in the top 5 of the season
Silva is also making a name for herself in another big statistic, especially on an international level: the golden shoe. This is the coveted award from UEFA, which is given each year to the top goalscorer in European football. The winner is determined using a point system.
