Top Italian Mafia Boss Marco Raduano Caught in France After Prison Escape Using Bedsheets

A top Italian mafia boss who escaped from a prison in Sardinia using bedsheets has been caught in France.

This, as European Pravda writes, reports BBC.

Marco Raduano was arrested in Corsica, officials in France and Italy confirmed. He was on Europol’s list of Europe’s most wanted criminals.

He was serving a 24-year sentence for drug trafficking and other crimes, according to Europol.

Raduano escaped from a maximum security prison in February last year using bedsheets he used to make ropes to climb down a wall.

Raduano was arrested on Thursday in Aleria while having dinner at a restaurant with a young woman.

Italian authorities announced that Raduano’s close aide, Gianluigi Troiano, was also detained near Granada in southern Spain.

Raduano, 40, is believed to be the boss of the Foggia crime syndicate, sometimes called Italy’s fourth mafia – after the better-known organizations of Sicily, Calabria and Naples.

Let us recall that last year in Italy a dog helped the police catch a mafia boss.

Meanwhile, the German Ministry of Internal Affairs counted more than a thousand Italian mafiosi in the country.
