Top favorite from ‘America’s Got Talent’ passed away after a tough battle with cancer: “An unimaginable loss” | TV

TV‘America’s Got Talent’ candidate Jane Marczewski has died aged 31 after a battle with cancer. Her family confirms this to American media. Jane received another Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell (62) during her audition and was named one of the big favorites of the season. But Jane had to leave the competition early to focus on her treatment, and the singer was passionate about that.

“We, her family, are devastated by her passing and this unimaginable loss,” the Marczewski family said in a statement. According to her loved ones, Jane battled cancer for about four years, but the battle finally became too much for her on February 19. “Those who knew her loved her larger-than-life personality and her sense of humor. She had a witty joke for every occasion, even if the jokes were about her. Her lasting legacy will be the “gift of hope” she has given to so many through her music and the strength she found in Jesus. We thank everyone for the messages of love and support.”

Jane competed on ‘America’s Got Talent’ under the stage name Nightbirde and was heartbroken that she had to leave the competition early. During the audition rounds of the 16th season, the singer took her chance with her own song ‘It’s Okay’, in which her health problems were extensively discussed. She sang that she was struck by cancer, but that it was important that everyone knew “we are so much more than the bad things that happen to us”.

“The last time I went for a checkup, I had cancer in my lungs, spine and liver. I have a two percent chance of survival, but two percent is not zero percent. Two percent is something,” she said. Jane managed to convince the entire jury and all viewers with her performance. Simon Cowell was so impressed that he immediately rewarded the performance with a Golden Buzzer. In the weeks that followed, the singers continued to become the top favorite of many viewers, although unfortunately fate had its own “unfavorable turn” in store for Marczewski. Because the cancer was suddenly back in full force and to be able to put all her energy into fighting the disease, Jane was forced to leave the talent show.

‘Thank you for all the support’

“Sharing my heart with the world during ‘AGT’ was an honor and a dream come true,” she wrote on social media at the time. “The point I was at this summer was amazing. What a miracle that the pain I went through could be transformed into something beautiful, allowing people all over the world to open their eyes wider. My health has deteriorated since my audition and this fight against cancer is taking up all my energy and attention. It makes me so sad that I have to report that I can’t continue this season. Life doesn’t always give a breather to those who deserve it, but we already knew that.”

The singer – who emphasized that she would fight to the last gas – also wanted to thank all her supporters. “Thank you for all your support, it means everything to me,” she wrote. “Stay with me, I’ll be better soon. I’m planning my future, not my legacy. I’m in pretty bad shape, but I still have dreams.” To which the judges of ‘America’s Got Talent’ also shared their condolences: “Your energy, your smile and your amazing voice will be missed during the live shows,” Sofia Vergara wrote on Instagram. And Heidi Klum also got into her pen: “The whole ‘AGT’ family loves you and we are all rooting for you”, she wrote at the time with a lot of hearts.
