The violating tackle of Castrais Ryno Pieterse on Bordeaux Maxime Lucu in the 64th minute of the match between Castres and Bordeaux-Bègles, this Saturday did not go unnoticed. The images have sparked many reactions on social media. Directly sanctioned with a red card, this uncontrolled action is severely judged by the majority of observers of the rugby planet.
Starting with this ironic tweet d’Andrew Durutalo, American rugby sevens player: “If you look up the word late in the dictionary, they’ll just get this replay.” The iconic Welsh referee, Nigel Owens, wanted to give his opinion: “I never get involved in conversations about the mentions or the duration of the bans. But it was an RC as obvious as you can see and well played Romain, no long TMO conversations. But this must now be followed by a very, very long ban ”.
Same observation for Olivier Magne who also reacted on Twitter: “That’s enough! it is time to sanction at the height of the violence of such a gesture and the prejudice to our sport. No one should risk their life on a sports field ”.
Bordeaux manager, Christophe Urios was also astonished at the violence of the percussion between the two players, before estimating that the consequences could have been more serious if the zone of impact had been higher: “Fortunately he takes it there. (Higher) He can kill him… ”
This Saturday evening, the scrum half of the UBB, Maxime Lucu wanted to reassure his state of health, by posting a message on the networks.
While this Sunday morning the Castresian Ryno Pieterse posted on his Instagram account a message of apologies: “I would like to apologize to Maxime Lucu for my gesture yesterday. I have lost control of my tackle and I am sincerely sorry. As I said after the game, I’m really happy that Maxime is doing better. Good luck for the rest of the season. ” The 28-year-old South African player risks a suspension of several weeks in disciplinary committee.
