Tom Boonen: “I soon realized that Wout van Aert was not a one-day fly” | Milan-Sanremo

With a win in the Strade Bianche, in Milan-Sanremo and in the opening stage of the Dauphiné, Wout van Aert has worked hard in recent days.

“Wout didn’t really surprise me, because I know what he is capable of”, Tom Boonen responds. “I think it’s great that he now manages to do it 3 times in a row. He certainly made an impression with his sprint in Sanremo.”

As Kempen brothers, Boonen and Van Aert have ridden training trips together. “I soon realized that Wout would not be a one-hit on the road”, Boonen testifies. “After his crash last year, it seemed to be a bit more difficult, but many riders can only dream of his level now.”

“He made optimal use of that extra rest period during the corona break to put the finishing touches on the t’s.”
