Tolosa Students Club: “Toulouse is a land of rugby, yes, but it is also a land of football”

You may have seen or heard it, the TFC has developed a partnership with eight schools in Toulouse. This project is named after the Tolosa Students Club. This approach is a continuation of everything that TFC does for “reclaim his city“. In this context, the writing of the site LesViolets.Com sought to find out more, and spoke for almost an hour with Gabriel of the Student Office of STAPS Toulouse, as well asAriane and Caroline, from the TSM Sports Bureau. Second part of this interview with the football and rugby comparison, the future of the partnership, and the evening organized by the club during the presentation of the project.

The “inauguration” of this partnership will take place for Rodez. What will the program be? Will you relate to other BDS or each comes their own?

STEPS : “Us, this match, it falls in our week of exams, and it is the case for a lot of students so it’s complicated. But I think we are going to bet on the fact that it will be Monday: we revised well the weekend, and we come to unwind with our friends at the Stadium. But some will not come on Monday, and will come for the next matches. On the animation, we are looking for the purchase of drums. And as I said before, we will also accompany the Brice turn on the songs! If we have two forums that answer each other, that can give something good. It would be good if we arrived a little earlier to be at the Bodega among students, and with all the Tef supporters. May we all come together to enjoy together, and sing for one and the same club.

TSM : “Despite the partial, we will obviously be there. But it is true that we did not discuss it with the others! As BDS we will certainly come together, but we will have to discuss it.

Many times in recent years, TFC has suffered when compared to rugby. But since the acquisition of the club, we feel a rise in power around this team, as we have seen against Sochaux, with a very nice atmosphere. Or like last year when the bus arrived. Do you feel that the TFC interests young people again?

STEPS : “Totally! I don’t like the football and rugby comparison. Toulouse is a land of rugby, yes, but it is also a land of football. One does not prevent the other. We are lucky to have a city with multiple sports at a very high level: Stade Toulousain, Fénix, Spacer’s, TFC, etc. I think what demotivated young people before the Covid were the results, the atmosphere around the club, and this lack of belonging to his city. Me, this is a criterion to which I attach great importance! And over the last few years in Ligue 1, we had lost that. Against Trélissac, and as for more than a year now, the Diarra generation, Ngoumou etc. is blooming. It’s a golden generation, and it’s a bunch of homies. It shows, it feels, and it’s nice! We say to ourselves that these are guys from our city, our neighborhood, and we say to ourselves “this is the TFC, we are all pulling together towards the same goal”. Getting closer to us, I think the idea of Tef was very good! We know how to talk to our students. I prefer that, rather than seeing that there is just a student platform with no real purpose behind it, and that they are doing things on their own.

TSM : “I quite agree. Le Tef has suffered in relation to the Stadium, but one does not prevent the other. Yes, the Stadium wins titles, but these are two different things, with two different experiences! It’s not at all the same atmosphere, not the same sport. With this partnership, we must recognize that we have incredible luck. Which club does so much for students? Frankly, none.

Did you talk about the future of this partnership with the club?

STEPS : “Yes of course ! If this partnership takes place, it is so that it continues. We within the BDE and BDS, we are going to have assignments, so the idea is that the club and the students are always in contact over time. For travel, setting up this partnership can encourage students to do so too. I am thinking of trips like Bordeaux, Rodez or Nîmes, even if there Nîmes it happens quickly and things will not be fully implemented. But now, there are several issues and possibilities around this project. But the idea is that it lasts over time. Will the offer remain the same if we move up to Ligue 1? I don’t know, we’ll see.

TSM : “Exactly, the goal is to be able to keep this partnership, and for the two parties to be close over the years. We all got to say what we had to say during the meetings. Between referents, we get along really well! Our goal is for students to come and love the experience offered to them!“.

Before finishing, tell us a little about the evening when we definitively presented the project to you. Did you see some players?

STEPS : “During the evening, the club allowed us to be around 10 per BDE, so we were about 90 people, with the standards we now know. There were things to eat etc. We were very well received. Then there was the final presentation of the project, we had a lot of discussions, it was interesting and we realize how lucky we are to experience this kind of thing as a student. You should know that before this evening, we had several meetings to discuss this project. Then, we were able to take pictures with the players, we posed individually with them, with the jerseys. Some had never been to the Stadium and really liked the setting, the place! The STAPS took the music in hand, we sang on Nadau with Rouault. Here we are, we say to ourselves that there is a way to do a great thing between us, with the people of Toulouse, this city!

And finally, do you have a prediction for the match?

STEPS : “I can see 2-1 or 2-0 with goals from Healey and Ngoumou!
TSM : “We see wider, 4-1 and 4-0
