Eight Paralympic athletes licensed in the Hauts de Seine took part in the Tokyo Paralympic Games from Tuesday August 24 to Sunday September 5, 2021. (©Pixabay)

Among the 141 French athletes, they are eight to be made redundant in Hauts-de-Seine. What is the outcome of this international fortnight for these eight Altoséquanese athletes?
Four medals, one of which is gold
This is the runner Charles-Antoine Kouakou who distinguished himself during the international competition by winning, Tuesday August 31, 20201, the gold medal in the 400 meters T20 (intellectual disability). The 23-year-old French vice-European champion even broke his personal best by one second with a score of just over 47 seconds.
Club resident Antony Athletics 92, the sportsman, also a gardener at Le Bourget (Seine-Saint-Denis), can neither read, nor write, nor count but knew how to achieve the perfect race to offer France its 6th gold medal.
Thomas Bouvais, licensed at Levallois Sporting Club, got him a bronze medal alongside Clément Berthier in Table tennis by team. They lost to Ukraine (2-0) in the semi-finals but still managed to climb to third place on the podium.
The runner Trésor Gauthier Makunda, also offered France a bronze medal but this time on the 400 meters T11 alongside his guide Lucas Mathonat, Sunday August 29, 2021. This is the fifth medal of this 37-year-old athlete, world and European champion in the 100 meters and licensed at Avia Club Athletics from Issy-les-Moulineaux.
Finally, the young judoka Hélios Latchoumanaya, 21 years old, and dismissed from the AS of Bourg-la-Reine, picked up, Sunday, August 29, 2021, the bronze medal on ippon in the -90kg category. This young visually impaired athlete and world number three in his discipline came for gold but lost in the semi-final against Iranian Vahid Nouri.
Nantenin Keïta, gold medalist in Rio in 2016 on the 400 meters in the T13 category and hope of this 2021 edition, she finished in the frustrating fourth position for the last Olympic competition of his career. The 36-year-old athlete, daughter of the famous Malian musician Salif Keïta, is, like Trésor Gauthier Makunda, licensed at Avia Club Athletics from Issy-les-Moulineaux.
