What are we inaugurating?
Gateway to Europe. No need to dwell on his case. Adopted by the Thionvillois, this work of art perfectly fulfills its primary mission by linking the historic center to the station district. Reserved for soft mobility, the Europe footbridge came into service last December. The wind of skepticism that blew over this €6.8 million project – and subsidized to the tune of €5.3 million – now seems to be dissipating. A simple glance posed daily on this equipment, especially in the morning and at the end of the day, testifies to the plebiscite reserved for it.
P+ R Metzange. His fate seems more mixed. However, in this territory congested by road travel, the creation of a relay car park resonates as obvious. Open to users on February 15, 2021, the P+R has suffered from the health crisis. The immobility of cross-border workers, who had found refuge in teleworking, sealed its start. Added to this is the question of its pricing. A preferential rate, initially reserved for residents of the agglomeration, was finally extended to the neighboring Val de Fensch. Finally, the last pitfall raised by Pierre Cuny in person: the service of the equipment suffered, for a few months, from the wanderings of a Luxembourg carrier. Now, with an average of 350 to 400 subscribers, this P+R, co-financed by Luxembourg (a first!), is on the right track.

Distinguished guests?
The municipality tried it by inviting Emmanuel Macron. The president declined. Falling back on a member of his government, at least hampered by the composition of the National Assembly, seemed doomed to failure. This Tuesday, a distinguished guest will still be present at these two inaugurations. A foreign but familiar personality in this territory: Xavier Bettel, the 1is Luxembourg minister. At his side, we will find the prefect of Moselle as well as François Grosdidier, representative of the Region in the absence of President Jean Rottner.

What impact on traffic?
The impact will be nil concerning the P+R. Held at a painless time (1 p.m.), the ceremony will take place in a dormant parking lot. Regarding the footbridge (tape cut at 3 p.m.), traffic will be interrupted, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., on the Pont des Alliés as well as the Crauser and Marchal quays: “The slot is rather good during working hours and outside school hours” , observes Laurent Cavalieri, boss of the multi-municipal police.
