“The album ‘Forward Back’ is a turning point in the development of the band. The compositions are more focused and concise. We have tried to listen more to ourselves, the world and our listeners to create music that directly reflects the time, the space and the place where we have been in the last three years, we have experienced, we have come out of their comfort zone: it was a search for sounds in the world of electronic music, the attraction of a new producer and a greater involvement of the whole band The songs on the album were created during different creative fields and range from “quite easy and fluid” to “the result of long discussions, experiments for” created compositions “, says the band’s drummer Artūrs Strautmanis about the album.
The album contains ten tracks, including the songs “See You Dance Again”, “Mūsu Zeme”, “Talking With Myself”, “In and Out of the Dark” released in the last two years, with which the group entered in the national Eurovision “Supernova” selection competition. , as well as the song “Getting Dark,” whose video was nominated for the Riga International Film Festival (Riga IFF) 2022 Baltic music video competition.
The album was recorded in the studio with sound director Tom Lisment, the songs were created in collaboration with producer Edward Broder, producer Reina Zodzic and percussionists Rafael Nascimento and Miguel Hernandez Giraldi. The visual design of the album was created by Monta Kurme.
The album presentation concert will be held at the cultural venue “Tu Jau Zini Kur”, Riga, Tallinn street 10-5, on October 15th at 20:00. The group will perform all the songs from the new album, the audience will be greeted by an audiovisual concert with several surprises.
The artists of “The Coco’nuts” drew inspiration from funk and indie music, blues rock and jazz. The group began their musical career in 2012 and have so far released a mini-album or EP “Appetizer” in 2014, the debut studio album “Amid Opposites” in 2016 and the second studio album “No Other Way Out. “in 2018. In the group’s activities so far, music has been performed in numerous local and foreign festivals and events.
