To complete the vaccination schedule, you must have 3 doses

(CRHoy.com).- The Ministry of Health published this Thursday the new version of the COVID-19 Disease Surveillance Guidelines, which establishes that only people who have 3 doses of vaccine can avoid isolation in case of contact with a positive person for the virus.

The version published today, which is number 24, also mentions that the person who is exempt from sanitary isolation must not present “symptoms and have at least 14 days after receiving the third dose of the vaccine.” Either must comply with the isolation “people who have two doses and have not yet exceeded the 4 months stipulated to receive the third dose”.

Cases diagnosed as positive for COVID-19 will continue with those 7 days of isolation previously stipulated, regardless of vaccination schedule status.

As established by the new guideline, to have the complete vaccination schedule, you must have the 3 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 (two doses of the basic regimen, plus a booster dose four months later).

“There is a resurgence of COVID-19 outbreaks in Europe and Asia, along these lines, the third dose of the vaccine becomes an important reinforcement of protection against serious illness and hospitalization, anticipating that Costa Rica may face future increases in cases such as impact on what is happening in other latitudes.

Along these lines, we remind the entire population that the country has sufficient doses to vaccinate those who require complete your schedule of three doses of vaccine against COVID-19through the different vaccinations of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund”, indicated the Minister of Health, Daniel Salas.

The guideline mentions the possibility for an asymptomatic person who has taken the antigen test for COVID-19 in a private laboratory and comes out positive, to opt for a confirmatory PCR test in the private laboratory, in case it comes out negative. This applies only to tests done in private laboratories.
