(CRHoy.com) If you have not yet started or completed the vaccination schedule against COVID-19 and you are missing the annual seasonal influenza injection, in vaccination centers it can be injected against both viruses simultaneously.
This was reported by the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), which is developing, in parallel, vaccination campaigns.
“We can apply vaccine concomitantly, influenza and COVID. In fact, a large number of people have come to complete their scheme with the third dose that they had pending, and at once they apply the influenza vaccine, “explained Leandra Abarca, from the Expanded Program of Immunizations of the CCSS.
Although this was not possible during the previous year’s campaign, Dr. Abarca explained that there are already studies that guarantee that it is not necessary to distance, in time, these vaccines.
“If we are missing the third dose and we are from the risk groups for influenza, let’s go to a vaccination center and take advantage of it. Let’s apply influenza to one arm and COVID to another arm, and in this way reduce our risk of getting seriously ill, ”he said.
The specialist explained that it is vital that the population be vaccinated against both viruses that are currently circulating in the national territory and thus there is individual and collective protection.
