Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian will propose three names to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to be appointed as the acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta replacing Anies Baswedan whose term of office expires next October.
The names are planned to be handed over by Tito to Jokowi in September or one month before the inauguration.
“[Pj Gubernur] In Aceh, we are currently in the process of selecting. Maybe in June we will have three names submitted to the President. The same [kandidat Pj Gubernur DKI] One month earlier, in September, we already had a name submitted to the President,” Tito told reporters at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Thursday (12/5).
However, Tito did not reveal the three names that would be handed over to Jokowi.
He only explained that the criteria for the acting governor of DKI Jakarta to replace Anies must be from echelon I civil servants. The reason is that the regulations require that figures who can become acting governors must be middle high leadership officials or echelon one.
So far, Tito has only received various inputs regarding the name to be appointed as acting governor.
“Is that concerned [calon penjabat gubernur] there is a problem or not, we are profiling, whether there is a potential case or not,” said Tito.
The name of the Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, has recently emerged as the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta. The chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gembong Warsono, mentioned that Heru is suitable as an acting governor.
According to him, Heru has the capacity to lead Jakarta and knows the problems in the capital city.
“Personally, Pak Heru is good, I think the control of the Jakarta issue is okay. But did Pak Heru make the choice? We don’t know,” said Gembong on January 5.
Heru served as Mayor of North Jakarta in 2014. A year later, he assumed the position of Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD).
