Tips for Safe Eating in Restaurants

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia continues to grow. With the emergence of restaurant clusters, it certainly makes people more alert so they don’t catch COVID-19 while eating food in restaurants.

The existence of this restaurant cluster certainly raises concerns, especially now that Indonesia is entering a new normal era. In order not to be infected and avoid COVID-19, here are tips that we can do when eat at the restaurant.

1. Choose a well-ventilated or open space restaurant
According to research conducted at Columbia University entitled Could a New Ultraviolet Technology Fight the Spread of Coronavirus? explained that sunlight is a natural disinfectant that works against viruses, bacteria and Covid-19, so make sure the restaurants you visit have ventilation and open space.

Try not to touch the furniture carelessly. For example, touching the furniture on the pay table.

Also, when lining up to order food, don’t get too close to other people or make sure to always keep a minimum distance of 2 meters. Wash your hands or use a hand sanitizer when receiving food from restaurant waiters.

3. Non-cash payments
Get used to pay using cashless or e-wallet by scanning a barcode to avoid physical contact. By using a non-cash payment instrument there will be no contact caused by banknotes or ATM cards.

Provide antibacterial wet wipes if you have to pay using a credit card or money.

4. Discipline of health protocols
Remember to always enforce health protocols starting from wearing a mask of at least 3 layers made of cotton, keeping your distance, to always washing your hands before eating and after ordering food.

5. Select a restaurant that applies the health protocol
No less important, choose a restaurant that applies health protocols. For example, limiting the number of visitors, adjusting the distance of chairs and tables to at least 2 meters, providing good and safe rules for visitors when queuing to order food, to providing a place for washing hands, soap and hand sanitizer.
