Tips for Parking at Prague Airport: Avoiding Extra Costs and Finding the Best Waiting Spots

Is this text for you?

This article is mainly intended for those who rarely use Prague Airport, for example when traveling on summer vacation. If you are one of the more experienced travelers, the content may seem trivial to you, we apologize for that. But know that many people fumble and make mistakes when parking at the airport, which in the end cost them unnecessary extra money.

How we do it

Since we are often at the airport when flying alone or picking up our colleagues, we have learned a simple procedure to always avoid paying even a single crown. The key is for the driver to find a good place to wait. During the day, shopping center Šestka or a nearby outlet is available. However, both are locked at night, and the police also check parking on nearby roads. It is therefore necessary to sew further, deeper into the darkness to the adjacent districts or the streets of Tuchoměřice.

When the passenger lands, he sends the first message: “I’m here!” But we’re still sitting quietly in our seats. Only when he steps off the plane into the terminal does he call that he is ready for pick-up, and at that moment we leave too. If he sends his luggage downstairs, he only calls when he has all the suitcases in hand and is ready to walk the last few tens of meters to the parking lot. Before it gets there, we just enter the gate.

If you’re picking up your family at Terminal 2, it’s more practical to enter through the right-hand gate, which will let you to the right into the larger and less used part of the car park. People will also see you better than if you parked in line with the taxi drivers outside the terminal. When leaving, don’t be afraid to use the gate that is emptier. Drivers often veer off at the right barrier for some mysterious reason.
