Tinder receives alarm button and photo verification – Computer – News

Tinder has several functions to guarantee the personal safety of users of the dating app. The app thus receives an alarm button for warning authorities and forwarding location data.

Tinder makes for the functionality according to the Wall Street Journal use of the Noonlight service. The platform for dating wants to offer the technology for free. The intention is that users enable Noonlight and give permission to track their location in real time with a date. Users can also record details about the date, such as the time and the person with whom they have an appointment.

When a user raises an alarm, Noonlight asks them to enter a code. If that does not happen, they receive a message and if they do not respond to it a phone call. If it is not recorded or if the user indicates that they need help by telephone, the service notifies the authorities that someone is in need. The feature will be available in the US at the end of January. The following months it also comes to other Match Group services, such as OkCupid, PlentyOfFish, Hinge and Match.com. It is not known when the function will become available outside the US.

Tinder also plans to introduce a verification system that requires users to prove that they are actually the person in their photos. The company is testing a tool for this, which asks users to take photos in different poses, to be able to compare them with the photos of the person who is already on the platform. With a match, the users receive a blue verification badge.
