The weather: June says goodbye with storms and a cool atmosphere and gives way to a July that begins more summery | Spain

The month of June says goodbye this week with stable weather in almost the entire Peninsula, except in the extreme north of the peninsula, where there will be storms accompanied on occasions by hail and strong wind. Some weak and scattered rain is also expected in the Mediterranean area and in inland mountain areas, while temperatures, although with ups and downs, will generally be cooler than usual for this time of year. But, next Friday, coinciding with the entry of July, temperatures “will normalize and will be more summery,” advances Rubén del Campo, spokesman for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

This Tuesday will be more stable and sunny in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands than on Monday, although the storms will continue in the northeast at dawn, especially in Catalonia, due to the tail blows of the passage of a trough or tongue of cold air. In the rest of the country the skies will be practically clear and daytime temperatures will rise in most of the Peninsula, especially in the northern half, where the rise can be up to 10°: in Teruel they will go from a minimum of 7° on Monday to a maximum of 30° and Soria from a minimum of 6° to a maximum of 26°, while Zaragoza, Madrid or Albacete will exceed 30° and in Seville and Córdoba they will be around 35°/36°.

On Wednesday, the Aemet spokesman continues, the passage of an inactive front will bring weak rainfall to the Cantabrian and upper Ebro communities and afternoon storms to the east of the Peninsula, locally intense in the surroundings of the Pyrenees, the rest of Aragon and Catalonia. and in the mountains of the southeast. In the rest, slightly cloudy skies. The maximums that will go down in the Bay of Biscay and in the western third and will go up in the eastern half. Barcelona and Valencia will approach 30°, Madrid and Murcia will reach 32° and in Zaragoza, Granada, Córdoba or Seville they will rise to 35°. “Temperatures will already be more typical for the time, except in Galicia and the western Cantabrian Sea, with Lugo at 18° and Oviedo at 16°, values between 5° and 10° below normal,” underlines the meteorologist.

After the passage of the front, June says goodbye on Thursday with a cooler and more unstable environment in the north, with rains in Galicia, Cantabrian communities and locally intense stormy showers in the Pyrenees, which can reach the rest of Aragon, Catalonia and the Sierras del southeast. In the rest of the country, the atmosphere will be clearer and the thermometers will suffer a sudden and extraordinary drop of up to 10°/12° in the northern half, which will be especially noticeable in the north of Castilla y León, La Rioja, the south of Basque Country, Navarra and western Aragon. In cities like Vitoria, Logroño or Pamplona the maximum will stay between 15° and 18°, values that will be between 10° and 15° below normal. The warmer environment will continue in the Guadalquivir valley, with up to 35° in Córdoba, while 30° is expected in Madrid.

For Friday and Saturday, Del Campo announces stable weather in almost all of Spain, with slightly cloudy skies but some light rain in the morning at points on the Catalan and Valencian coasts and stormy showers in the afternoon around the Iberian system. Temperatures will rise notably, except in the Mediterranean, and there will be “a more temperate environment” and typical of these dates. On Saturday, temperatures can reach or exceed 35° in the North plateau, the Ebro basin, central and southern half areas, and temperatures between 5° and 10° higher than normal in the northern third. Points like Vitoria, Logroño and Pamplona, with highs between 33° and 35°, will have values between 18° and 20° higher than Thursday. On Sunday it is possible that the thermometers will drop again in the west of the peninsula and instability will increase again, with rains and showers in the northern half and eastern third.
