Every year GQ curates the best looks of the year. In a big vote on the GQ US Instagram profile, readers finally decide who belongs at the top. This year, Timothée Chalamet managed to outdo the competition with his styling. You can find out here who the young actor, who became famous with “Call me by your name” and is now starring in blockbusters like “Dune” or most recently “Wonka”, prevailed against.
Timothée Chalamet is the most stylish man of 2023
So Timothée managed to snag the coveted title for the best looks of the year. Hardly surprising – after all, Timmy has had an admirable year when it comes to style. The young actor spent the summer in his hometown of New York, where he filmed a Chanel commercial with Martin Scorsese – dressed from head to toe in leather.
In true Adam Sandler style, he hopped into the XL shorts from Supreme and watched the US Open in public for the first time, with Kylie Jenner at his side, sunglasses on his nose and tiny Cartier watches on his wrist. However, the young actor particularly caused a stir on the press tour of his recently released film “Wonka”, in which he plays the lead role. In Tokyo he showed up in floor-length latex; he beat the London rain in a velvet suit with no shirt underneath. Round one
In round one, experienced fashionistas A$AP Rocky, David Beckham and Timothée Chalamet prevailed against newcomers Troye Sivan, Bad Bunny and Charles Melton. Jacob Elordi won against Offset, while Cillian Murphys Oppenheimer Style which eclipsed Travis Kelce’s Kenergy. Pedro Pascal’s sophisticated ensembles trumped Justin Bieber’s unbridled fashion chaos. In an exciting twist, fan favorite Jeremy Allen White beat Pharrell to advance to the quarterfinals. Kendrick “Best-Dressed” Lamar also narrowly won against Paul Mescal, whose football shorts and Clairo hoodie will live on in our hearts.
The quarterfinals
The quarterfinals of this year’s Most Stylish Man rankings could be closer than ever in the history of the competition. Almost every head-to-head race was fought until the last second. David Beckham’s obsessive outfit planning helped him defeat A$AP Rocky. Cillian Murphy, the only man who still makes slim suits look stunning, narrowly beat out avowed Wales Bonn fan Kendrick Lamar. Timothée Chalamet’s daring fashion choices helped him win over Pedro Pascal this year. And when asked who could wear a casual white T-shirt and jeans best, Jacob Elordi came out ahead of Jeremy Allen White.
The semi-finals
The semi-final was a real thriller. David Beckham beat Cillian Murphy by just a few percentage points – no doubt inspired by his and his wife Victoria Beckham’s latent enthusiasm for Y2K fashion, which appears in the new Netflix show Beckham was taken up again. On the Gen Z side, post-swag king Timothée Chalamet has snuck past handbag lover Jacob Elordi.
The final
Beckham vs. Chalamet – a tough fight. But as you know, it worked out in the actor’s favor. Congratulations! Given that David Beckham has already been considered a hundred times over most stylish man was awarded, this second place will probably be easy to cope with.
